Firefighters Extricate SUV Driver In Teaneck Bridge Crash

An elderly woman was hospitalized with a compound ankle fracture after her SUV slammed into a concrete footbridge post in Teaneck early Monday afternoon.

The woman apparently lost control of the Ford on Windsor Road across from the Benjamin Franklin Middle School and it slammed into the post around 12:45 p.m., Battalion Chief Paul Kearns said.

Members of Hackensack Rescue helped Teaneck firefighters extricate the woman, who was traveling alone, Kearn said.

She was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center.

The driver was extricated and taken to HUMC with injuries that responders said weren't life-threatening.
